Stage Lighting Hire for Concerts, Conferences and Live Shows

Stage lighting hire means renting professional fixtures, control and rigging, with technicians if you need them, for as long as your production runs.
Stage & Light Services Ltd supplies, installs and operates stage lighting across London and the UK. Your performers are seen, your speakers look good on camera, and your show feels finished.
WHAT IS STAGE LIGHTING HIRE?

What Does Stage Lighting Hire Include?

Buying a rig makes sense if you use it every week. Most productions do not. Hiring gives you professional equipment for the days you need it, without storage, testing or maintenance to worry about.
A typical hire brings together five parts:
You can hire equipment on its own, or choose a managed service where we design, install, run and remove everything. Either way, the aim is the same: light that supports the performance, keeps people safe and works on the day, not just on paper.

What Affects the Cost of

Stage and venue size

larger spaces need more fixtures and more rigging

Fixture type and quantity

moving heads cost more than static washes

Design and programming

a shaped show takes more preparation than simple cover

Crew

operator, technician and rigger time

Crowd at a live event lit by moving head stage lighting beams

Hire length

a single night, a weekend or a multi-day run

Delivery and access

distance, stairs, parking and loading times

Setup and clear-down windows

tight timings can add labour

Send your brief and we will return an itemised quote with no surprises.
Stage Lighting Hire

Safe Setups and UK-Wide Delivery

Lighting hangs over people, so safety is not optional. We plan every rig around safe working loads, secure mounting and correct electrical practice, in line with HSE event safety guidance.
We are based in London and deliver stage lighting across the city and throughout the UK. For events further afield, tell us the venue and date and we will confirm availability and delivery.
What helps us plan your rig: the stage width and depth, ceiling or rigging height, available power, load-in access and your setup window.
If you have a venue tech pack or floor plan, send it over.
If not, we will ask the right questions, and where possible we will check the space before the day.
Stage Lighting Hire

Frequently Asked Questions.

It depends on the number and type of fixtures, hire length, delivery location and crew. Small packages cost far less than full concert rigs. Send your event details for a clear, itemised quote.
Book as early as you can, especially for weekends, December and the summer festival season. Late requests are sometimes possible, but availability is not guaranteed.
Both. You can hire equipment only, or have our crew deliver, set up, operate and pack down the rig.
Yes. We scale the rig to your stage, venue and budget, from a single presenter to a full production.
Yes, we deliver across the UK. Delivery arrangements and any travel costs are confirmed in your quote.
A par can throws a fixed wash of light in one direction. A moving head can pan, tilt, change colour and project patterns, which makes it better for dynamic shows.
Not always. A single-speaker stage may only need simple, well-placed cover. A concert or awards show usually benefits from a designed and programmed rig. We will advise once we see your brief.
We follow safe working practices, including risk assessments and method statements. [CONFIRM testing and insurance details]
KNOWLEDGE HUB

Stage Lighting Knowledge Hub

01. Moving heads or LED pars?

LED pars give an even wash of colour and suit backdrops and general cover. Moving heads add movement, beams and patterns, so they suit concerts and shows with changing looks. Many rigs use both.

02. How much lighting does my stage need?

It depends on stage size, ceiling height, audience distance and whether cameras are filming. A small speaker stage may need a handful of fixtures. A concert stage needs far more. Share your dimensions and we will advise.

03. Lighting for camera and livestream

Cameras respond differently from the human eye. Colour temperature, brightness and flicker all matter, and some LED fixtures can cause visible flicker on video. Tell us if you are filming or streaming so we choose suitable kit.

04. DMX in plain English

DMX is the standard signal that lets a lighting desk control fixtures, based on technical standards maintained by industry bodies such as PLASA. One DMX universe carries 512 channels, and each fixture uses a set number of them. Your desk and rig are patched together so every light does what you programme.

05. Is it better to hire or buy stage lighting?

Hire suits one-off shows, seasonal work and anyone who wants current kit without maintenance. Buying makes sense if you use the rig most weeks and have somewhere safe to store, test and repair it. For most organisers, hiring is the lower-risk choice.
